INSURANCE
-
I accept payment in the form of a debit or credit card (HSA cards accepted), a written check, or cash. I use an app, IVY PAY, which is HIPAA compliant for processing credit cards.
-
Aetna Insurance for clients who meet medical necessity* guidelines. I also accept Mountain Strong EAP through Eagle Valley Behavioral Health as I am also licensed in Colorado.
-
I provide monthly Superbills to anyone wishing to submit these to their insurance company if you have ‘out of network’ coverage. Please note that you need to meet medical necessity* for insurance to cover psychotherapy.
-
Insurance companies cover therapy when it is considered ‘medically necessary,’ which means there must be a diagnosable mental health condition that significantly impacts your daily life, relationships, work, or well-being. This could include issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other conditions that interfere with your ability to function.
For insurance to approve and continue covering sessions, there needs to be evidence that therapy is helping to treat the condition and improve your functioning. If therapy is more about personal growth, relationship issues without a mental health diagnosis, or general stress management, insurance might not consider it medically necessary.
I’m happy to discuss whether your situation meets these criteria and how we can navigate the process together.
Making high quality care accessible is important to me. For this reason I offer a few reduced fee slots based on need and availability.
GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
Under federal law, health care providers are required to offer clients who are not using insurance a Good Faith Estimate of the expected costs for services, including psychotherapy.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the anticipated total cost of non-emergency health care services. This estimate is meant to help you make informed decisions about your care.
You are welcome to request a Good Faith Estimate from any provider before scheduling services or at any time during treatment.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge. We encourage you to keep a copy or photo of your estimate for your records.
